How to read the California School Dashboard for Folsom schools

California does not grade schools A to F. The California School Dashboard reports each school's results on a set of indicators, and the 2025 Dashboard is the latest. The figures on this page come from the California Department of Education's 2025 Dashboard data files for all students at each school.

  • English language arts and math are shown as average distance from the grade-level standard on state tests, in points. Zero means students scored at the standard on average; +60 means well above it; negative numbers mean below it.
  • Graduation rate is the share of a high school's four-year cohort that graduated.
  • Chronic absenteeism is the share of K-8 students who missed 10% or more of school days.

These are averages for whole schools. They say nothing about a single classroom or program, and small schools move a lot from year to year. Use them as one input, then visit.

Mangini Ranch Elementary opened in August 2021 and Alder Creek Elementary in August 2024, both south of Highway 50 as the Folsom Plan Area fills in. Alder Creek has only one year of results, so it has no change figure yet. New schools can change attendance areas as they open, which is one more reason to check the address with the district.

Older Folsom elementary schools north of the highway

Blanche Sprentz, opened in 1966, and Gold Ridge had the lowest English results among Folsom schools, though both were above the state average. Blanche Sprentz improved 7.7 points in English from 2024. School choice in Folsom: magnets, charters and transfers

Programs flagged as magnets in Folsom

The district's charter and alternative schools are outside the city: Folsom Cordova K-8 Community Charter in Mather, and Riverview STEM Elementary, a magnet K-8 in Rancho Cordova that scored 79.9 points above standard in English and 75.0 in math. Innovations Academy offers independent study. Each has its own enrollment process and deadlines.

Transfers inside Folsom Cordova Unified

If your preferred school is not your assigned one, the district runs a school choice window and an overflow process for full schools. Space is never guaranteed, so do not buy a home on the assumption that a transfer will be approved.

How to check which schools serve a Folsom address

A listing that says a home is near a school does not mean the home is assigned to it. Before you rely on any school:

  1. Use Folsom Cordova Unified's Find Your Neighborhood School tool on its school attendance boundaries page and enter the exact address.
  2. Read the district's boundary notes for Folsom Ranch and any recent boundary changes, since new schools are still opening south of Highway 50.
  3. Call the school or the district's enrollment office to confirm, and ask whether the school is at capacity.
  4. Look up the school on the California School Dashboard for results by student group and other indicators not shown here.
