How the California School Dashboard rates Cypress schools
California replaced single school scores with the California School Dashboard. For each measure it gives one of five colors, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green or Blue, based on both the current result and the change from the year before. Blue is the top level.
- English and math are reported as distance from standard: how many points, on average, students scored above or below the grade-level standard on state tests in grades 3 to 8 and 11.
- Graduation rate is the share of a high school's four-year cohort that graduated.
- Chronic absenteeism is the share of students in kindergarten to grade 8 who missed at least 10% of school days. Lower is better.
Figures here come from the California Department of Education's 2025 Dashboard data files (school year 2024-25), downloaded in October 2026, for all students. The next Dashboard is normally released in December.
Which school districts serve Cypress addresses
The Orange County Auditor-Controller's 2026-27 tax rate book lists the school bonds charged in each Cypress tax rate area, which shows which districts cover the city. Most areas pay Cypress School District and Anaheim Union High bonds. Others pay bonds for Savanna School District, Centralia School District, Los Alamitos Unified or Garden Grove Unified instead. Savanna and Centralia are elementary districts whose students also move on to Anaheim Union High. Los Alamitos Unified and Garden Grove Unified run every grade themselves.
| District (2025 Dashboard) | English (points vs standard) | Math (points vs standard) | Graduation rate | Chronic absenteeism |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cypress School District (K-6) | +48.0 (Blue) | +31.0 (Green) | n/a | 7.8% |
| Anaheim Union High (7-12) | -25.7 (Orange) | -84.1 (Yellow) | 94.4% | 21.4% |
| Los Alamitos Unified | +62.8 (Green) | +30.4 (Green) | 96.8% | 6.9% |
| Centralia Elementary | +19.5 (Green) | +8.8 (Green) | n/a | 11.5% |
| Savanna Elementary | -6.4 (Yellow) | -16.3 (Yellow) | n/a | 16.3% |
| Garden Grove Unified | +24.9 (Green) | -3.9 (Green) | 92.3% | 12.8% |
| State of California | -8.1 | -42.4 | 87.8% | 17.1% |
Colors are the Dashboard's 2025 performance levels for each district. Anaheim Union High runs schools from Anaheim to Cypress, so its district average mixes very different schools; the school figures below matter more.

School choice in Cypress: Oxford Academy, charters and transfers
Oxford Academy admissions
Oxford Academy's admissions notice for the 2022-23 year described ranking applicants by entrance exam and selecting about 25 students from each of Anaheim Union High's eight junior high attendance areas, plus about 35 top non-residents, for roughly 235 seventh-grade places. Check the school's site for the current year's process and dates before you count on a seat.
Charter school in Cypress
The state directory lists Sycamore Creek Community Charter II, a K-12 charter authorized by the Orange County Department of Education, at 4323 Cerritos Avenue. Enrollment there is by application rather than by address; ask the school about its process and its results.
Transfers between districts
If you want a school outside your home district, ask both your home district and the district you want about inter-district transfer rules, deadlines and space. A transfer is never guaranteed, so do not buy on the assumption of one.
How to check which schools serve a Cypress address
Never rely on a listing or a map pin for school assignment. Boundaries change, and some streets sit near a district line.
- Find the tax rate area on the property tax bill. The school bonds listed show the district.
- Enter the address in the district's own locator: Cypress School District's school locator, or Anaheim Union High's Find My School and its school boundaries page.
- Call the district's enrollment office to confirm before you write an offer.
- Look up the school on the California School Dashboard for the full results, including student groups.
