How to read the Dashboard results for Lakewood schools
The California School Dashboard reports each school's English language arts (ELA) and math results as average distance from standard: how many points above or below the grade-level standard students scored on the state tests. Zero means students met the standard on average. Each result also gets a color, from Red (lowest) through Orange, Yellow and Green to Blue (highest), which combines the current score with the change from the year before. The figures on this page are the 2025 Dashboard results for all students, from the California Department of Education's data files.
A Dashboard score is one measure. It does not show class size, programs, or how a particular child will do. Use it to shortlist, then visit and ask the school about the things that matter to you.
Lakewood school districts compared with California
The four districts differ more than the schools inside Lakewood do. The table shows each district's 2025 Dashboard results for all students.
| District | ELA (points from standard) | Math (points from standard) | Chronic absenteeism | Graduation rate |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ABC Unified | +36.9 (Green) | +4.7 (Green) | 9.9% | 95.1% |
| Long Beach Unified | +0.2 (Green) | -37.9 (Yellow) | 24.5% | 87.4% |
| Bellflower Unified | -11.5 (Yellow) | -60.9 (Yellow) | 20.4% | 94.6% |
| Paramount Unified | -19.5 (Yellow) | -70.9 (Yellow) | 22.5% | 90.4% |
| California (state) | -8.1 | -42.4 | 17.1% | 87.8% |
District figures cover every school in the district, most of them outside Lakewood. ABC Unified's average includes Cerritos and Artesia schools, and Long Beach Unified's covers the whole of Long Beach.

Lakewood high schools
Lakewood High School (Long Beach Unified)
Lakewood High, at 4400 Briercrest Avenue (90713), serves grades 9 to 12 and is flagged as a magnet school in the state directory. Its 2025 results were 7.4 points below standard in ELA (Yellow) and 101.4 points below in math (Yellow), with a graduation rate of 93.5%, above the district's 87.4%. Long Beach Unified runs high school choice for eighth graders, so a Lakewood address does not lock in Lakewood High.
Mayfair High School (Bellflower Unified)
Mayfair, at 6000 Woodruff Avenue (90713), is a combined middle and high school for grades 7 to 12. It scored 9.8 points above standard in ELA (Green) and 72.5 below in math (Yellow), and graduated 94.2% of students. Chronic absenteeism was 16.2%, below the state rate.
Artesia High School (ABC Unified)
Artesia High, at 12108 Del Amo Boulevard (90715), serves the east side of Lakewood and is also flagged as a magnet school. It scored 13.2 points below standard in ELA and 89.9 below in math (both Yellow), with a 95.6% graduation rate, the highest of the three main Lakewood high schools.
Paramount Unified schools on Michelson Street
Paramount Unified has two high schools at Lakewood addresses on Michelson Street (90712): Odyssey STEM Academy, which reported a 100% graduation rate and ELA 32.1 points above standard (Green), and Buena Vista High, a continuation school. Paramount Unified serves only a small part of Lakewood, so ask the district about enrollment if you live outside its area.
Lakewood elementary schools
Cleveland Elementary (Long Beach Unified)
At 4760 Hackett Avenue (90713), Cleveland had the strongest 2025 results of any Lakewood school: 55.1 points above standard in ELA and 34.3 above in math, both Green.
MacArthur and Holmes Elementary (Long Beach Unified)
MacArthur, at 6011 Centralia Street (90713), was 31.5 points above standard in ELA and 16.3 above in math. Holmes, at 5020 Barlin Avenue (90712), was 30.9 above in ELA and 6.4 above in math. All four results were Green, though Holmes had the highest chronic absenteeism of the Long Beach Unified elementaries here at 29.8%.
Madison, Riley and Gompers (Long Beach Unified)
Madison (2801 Bomberry Street) and Riley (3319 Sandwood Street) are on the west side in 90712 and scored above standard in ELA, at 13.5 and 9.0 points. Gompers, at 5206 Briercrest Avenue (90713), was 12.0 points below standard in ELA (Orange) but Green in math at 16.1 below.
Bellflower Unified elementaries in Lakewood
Stephen Foster (5223 Bigelow Street) was the strongest at 11.0 points above standard in ELA (Green). Esther Lindstrom (5900 Canehill Street) and Craig Williams (6144 Clark Avenue) were below standard in both subjects. Bellflower Unified's Intensive Learning Center on Michelson Street also serves grades K to 6.
ABC Unified elementaries east of the river
Palms (12445 207th Street), Melbourne (21314 Claretta Avenue) and Willow (11733 205th Street) are all in 90715. All three scored below standard in 2025, Palms by 19.9 points in ELA and Willow by 36.5, though ABC Unified as a district was well above the state average.
School choice, magnet and charter options in Lakewood
Long Beach Unified school choice
Long Beach Unified runs a district-wide school choice process, including high school choice for eighth graders, so Lakewood students can apply to programs outside their assigned school. Dates change each year; check the district's school choice page in the fall.
Magnet schools serving Lakewood
The state directory flags Lakewood High, Artesia High and Palms Elementary as magnet schools. Ask each school what the magnet program is and whether students from outside the attendance area can apply.
Charter and transfer options
No active charter school has a Lakewood address in the state directory. Families can still apply to charters or request inter-district transfers; each district publishes its own transfer rules and deadlines.
How to check which schools serve a Lakewood address
Because four districts split the city, the street address decides the district. Never rely on a listing that says a home is in a particular school's area. Instead:
- Use Long Beach Unified's Find My Schools by Address tool for addresses in its area.
- Use Bellflower Unified's Find My School page or ABC Unified's Find Your School page for addresses in their areas.
- Call the district's enrollment office to confirm, since boundaries and capacity can change.
- Compare the schools you are given on the California School Dashboard.
