How the California School Dashboard measures Redondo Beach schools
California does not give schools letter grades. The California School Dashboard, published by the California Department of Education (CDE), rates each measure on five colors from Red (lowest) through Orange, Yellow and Green to Blue (highest). Each color combines the latest result with the change from the year before, so a school with high scores that fell sharply can show Green instead of Blue.
- English and math are shown as distance from standard: the average number of points that tested students in grades 3 to 8 and 11 scored above (+) or below (-) the grade-level standard.
- Graduation rate is the share of a four-year high school group that graduated on time.
- Chronic absenteeism is the share of K-8 students who missed at least 10% of school days. Lower is better.
All figures on this page come from the CDE's 2025 Dashboard data files (released fall 2025, covering the 2024-25 school year), all students, downloaded in October 2026. New results normally appear each December, so check the live Dashboard for an update.

Source: CDE 2025 Dashboard data files, all students. Redondo Beach Unified's English and math results both fell about four points from the year before (3.8 and 4.0), which is why they show Green rather than Blue, while Torrance Unified's rose about four points. RBUSD tested roughly 4,800 students in each subject and counted 755 students in its graduation group. The district's own website reports nine career technical education pathways and a 93.5% AP pass rate.

School choice, transfers and programs in Redondo Beach
Redondo Beach Unified enrollment and permits
RBUSD's enrollment page says new-student enrollment for 2026-27 opened online on February 2, 2026. Families submit proof of residency: a property tax bill or escrow papers for owners, or a lease for renters, plus a current gas, water or electric bill or similar document. The online system is for residents; families who live outside the district apply for an interdistrict permit through the district's permit page. The enrollment page also links to a School of Choice page and to Child Development Center enrollment.
Redondo Union High programs
The district reports nine career technical education pathways and an AP pass rate of 93.5% on its home page. Ask the Redondo Union counseling office, (310) 798-8665, for the current course catalog, since pathways change from year to year.
Redondo Beach Virtual Learning
The 2025 Dashboard still lists Redondo Beach Virtual Learning, an RBUSD online school, but the CDE school directory now shows it as closed; ask the district about current online options. Too few students were tested in 2025 for the Dashboard to report its results.
How to check which schools serve a Redondo Beach address
We never say a home is zoned for a particular school. Attendance boundaries are set by the district, do not follow ZIP codes and can change. Before you buy:
- Use the RBUSD School Locator linked from the district's new student enrollment page, and compare it with the school boundary map.
- Call the district office at 1401 Inglewood Avenue, (310) 379-5449, or the school itself, to confirm the address and ask whether the school has room in your child's grade.
- Confirm the city. Hollywood Riviera and some edges of North Redondo sit near the Torrance and Hermosa Beach lines, and a Redondo Beach mailing address is not proof of the school district. The tax bill shows the parcel's taxing agencies.
- Read the full report for any school on the California School Dashboard, including results for student groups and suspension rates.
For prices on each side of town, see the Redondo Beach ZIP code guide and the Redondo Beach home buying guide. If you are also looking next door, compare Torrance schools and Manhattan Beach schools.
