Which school districts serve Westlake Village
Westlake Village homes can fall in three public school districts, and the mailing address does not tell you which. The incorporated city, on the Los Angeles County side, is mostly in Las Virgenes Unified School District (LVUSD), headquartered at 4111 Las Virgenes Road in Calabasas. A southern portion of the city is in Santa Monica-Malibu Unified. The Westlake neighborhoods on the Ventura County side, which are part of Thousand Oaks but share the Westlake Village name and ZIPs 91361 and 91362, are in Conejo Valley Unified School District (CVUSD).
That matters when you compare listings. Two homes a mile apart, both described as Westlake Village, can send children to different elementary, middle and high schools in different counties. Use the district lookups at the end of this page for any address you are serious about.
How to read the California School Dashboard
California does not grade schools A to F. The California School Dashboard, run by the California Department of Education (CDE), gives each indicator one of five colors: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green and Blue, from lowest to highest. The color blends this year's result with the change from last year, so a school with high scores that slipped can show Green rather than Blue.
- English and math are reported as distance from standard: the average points above (+) or below (-) the grade-level standard on state tests in grades 3 to 8 and 11.
- Graduation rate is the four-year cohort rate.
- Chronic absenteeism is the share of K-8 students who missed at least 10% of the school year. Lower is better.
Every figure below comes from the CDE's 2025 Dashboard data files (the fall 2025 release, covering 2024-25), downloaded in October 2026. The next Dashboard is normally released in December, so check the live site for newer results.

How to check which schools serve a Westlake Village address
We never state that a home is zoned for a school. Attendance areas follow district lines, not ZIP codes or city limits, and they can change. Before you buy:
- Las Virgenes Unified: enter the address in the district's Find Your School locator, or call the district at (818) 880-4000.
- Conejo Valley Unified: use the My Neighborhood School page, which links the street index and school locator map.
- Santa Monica-Malibu Unified: if the home is in the southern part of the city, confirm with the district at smmusd.org.
- Read any school's full report on the California School Dashboard.
- Ask the seller's agent for the county shown on the tax bill. It tells you quickly whether you are on the LVUSD or CVUSD side.
For the rest of the buying process see our Westlake Village home buying guide, and for price differences between the two ZIPs, the Westlake Village ZIP code guide.
