Newport Beach school results on the California School Dashboard
California does not grade schools A to F. The California School Dashboard from the California Department of Education (CDE) gives each school a color on each measure, from Red (lowest) through Orange, Yellow and Green to Blue (highest), based on both the latest result and the change from the year before. English and math results are shown as the average distance from the grade-level standard on state tests, in points. Chronic absenteeism is the share of K-8 students who missed 10% or more of the year.
All figures below are from the CDE's 2025 Dashboard data files (the fall 2025 release, covering 2024-25), downloaded on October 30, 2026. Newport-Mesa Unified has posted a news item on its latest Dashboard results; the state normally publishes the next Dashboard in December, so check the live site before you rely on a number.

Every public school with a Newport Beach address scored above the state average in English. Five of the eight elementary schools were rated Blue in both English and math.
Newport Beach elementary schools
Newport-Mesa Unified splits Newport Beach between two feeder zones. The district's flow chart puts Andersen, Eastbluff, Harbor View, Lincoln and Newport Coast elementaries in the Corona del Mar zone, and Mariners, Newport and Newport Heights in the Newport Harbor zone, along with several Costa Mesa schools.
Newport Coast Elementary (6655 Ridge Park Road)
The highest English score of any Newport Beach elementary school in 2025, at 82.8 points above standard, with math at 65.6 above. Both rated Blue. It feeds Corona del Mar Middle and High.
Roy O. Andersen Elementary (1900 Port Seabourne Way)
Math was 81.2 points above standard, up 20.5 points in a year, the biggest math gain among the city's schools. Chronic absence rose 2.1 points to 7.5%, which earned an Orange color on that measure despite being well under the state rate of 17.1%.
Harbor View Elementary (900 Goldenrod Avenue, Corona del Mar)
Blue in both English (67.7 above) and math (50.3 above), and the lowest chronic absence rate in the city at 4.8%. It offers preschool as well as TK through grade 6.
Newport Heights Elementary (300 East 15th Street)
English rose 14.8 points to 63.4 above standard and math rose 16.5 points to 38.4 above, both Blue. It feeds Ensign Intermediate and Newport Harbor High.
Mariners Elementary (2100 Mariners Drive)
Blue in English (53.3 above) and math (46.7 above), with 6.5% chronic absence. Although its address is in 92660, the district places it in the Newport Harbor zone.
Newport Elementary (1327 West Balboa Boulevard)
The Balboa Peninsula school scored 50.9 above standard in English and 29.7 above in math. Both measures fell from the year before, so the colors are Green rather than Blue. It also runs a preschool.
Abraham Lincoln Elementary (3101 Pacific View Drive, Corona del Mar)
English was 34.7 above standard, down 14.7 points, and math 28.0 above. Chronic absence rose to 12.8%, the one Red color among the city's schools in 2025. Ask the school what it is doing about attendance.
Eastbluff Elementary (2627 Vista del Oro)
English 24.4 and math 21.0 points above standard, both Green, with chronic absence falling 2.1 points to 10.3%.
Newport Beach middle and high schools
Corona del Mar Middle and High School (2101 Eastbluff Drive)
One campus for grades 7 to 12. English was 42.5 points above standard, up 12.8, and math 16.4 above, up 16.6 and rated Blue. The four-year graduation rate was 96.5%, also Blue. Middle-grade chronic absence was 7.5%.
Horace Ensign Intermediate (2000 Cliff Drive)
The grade 7 and 8 school for the Newport Harbor zone. English was 39.8 above standard and math 16.4 above, both Green. Chronic absence of 17.4% is the highest of the Newport Beach campuses and about level with the state rate.
Newport Harbor High School (600 Irvine Avenue)
Graduation rate 96.9%, rated Blue, and English 45.6 points above standard. Math was 27.8 points below standard, rated Yellow, the one below-standard academic score among the city's public schools. Ask about math course options and support if that matters to you.
School choice: magnet, early college and private schools
Newport-Mesa Unified runs four schools with district-wide attendance, which any district student can apply to regardless of address:
Davis Magnet and Early College High (Costa Mesa)
Maude B. Davis Elementary, the district's magnet school, scored 66.9 above standard in English and 45.3 in math in 2025, both Blue. Early College High School scored 132.5 above in English and graduated 100% of its cohort. Both are in Costa Mesa. Back Bay High and Monte Vista Independent Study are the district's other two district-wide schools.
Sage Hill School (private, Newport Coast)
Sage Hill is an independent college-preparatory day school for grades 7 to 12 on a 28-acre campus at 20402 Newport Coast Drive. Private schools do not report to the Dashboard, so ask them directly for results, tuition and admission timelines.
To move between Newport-Mesa schools, the district has a school transfer process with its own deadlines; families from outside the district use the inter-district transfer process. Check the district's enrollment pages for the current windows before you count on a transfer.
How to check which school serves a Newport Beach address
- Open Newport-Mesa Unified's interactive School Locator map from the district's School Locator page and enter the full street address.
- Note the elementary, middle and high school it returns, then check the feeder chart to confirm the zone.
- Look up each school on the California School Dashboard for the latest colors.
- Call the district's enrollment office before you remove your purchase contingencies. Boundaries can change, and a listing or a neighbor's word is not a guarantee.
We never state that a home is zoned for a school, and you should not rely on a listing that does. For the homes themselves, see our Newport Beach guide, the Corona del Mar and Newport Coast pages, and Newport Beach ZIP codes.
