How California rates Beverly Hills schools
California no longer gives schools a single score. The California School Dashboard reports several indicators, each with a color from Red (lowest) through Orange, Yellow and Green to Blue (highest). The color combines this year's level with the change from last year. For test scores, the level is shown as points above or below the standard for the grade, so +53.4 means students scored, on average, 53.4 points above the standard.
The figures on this page come from the California Department of Education's 2025 Dashboard data files for English language arts, mathematics, graduation rate and chronic absenteeism, all students. A school with too few students for a comparison, or no prior-year result, shows a level with no color.

Beverly Hills public schools, one by one
El Rodeo Elementary School, North Whittier Drive
El Rodeo, at 605 North Whittier Drive, serves kindergarten through fifth grade and is one of two district sites offering transitional kindergarten. Its 2025 scores were the highest in the district: 67.0 points above standard in English and 61.5 above in math. It shows no color because the 2025 file has no prior-year result to compare against. Its chronic absenteeism rate was 9.0%.
Horace Mann Elementary School, Charleville Boulevard
Horace Mann, at 8701 Charleville Boulevard, also serves kindergarten through fifth grade and offers transitional kindergarten. It scored 54.5 points above standard in English and 37.0 above in math, both Blue, with gains of 11.5 and 8.4 points. Chronic absenteeism was 13.1%, rated Orange, so attendance is the one indicator where it trails.
Beverly Vista Middle School, South Elm Drive
Beverly Vista, at 200 South Elm Drive, is the district's only middle school, for grades 6 to 8. It was Blue in both subjects: 49.4 points above standard in English and 23.1 above in math, after a 19.7-point gain in math. About 16.1% of students were chronically absent, rated Yellow.
Beverly Hills High School, Moreno Drive
Beverly Hills High, at 241 Moreno Drive, is the city's comprehensive high school for grades 9 to 12. Students tested at the school scored 49.3 points above standard in English, up 23.9 points and rated Blue. Math was 4.7 points below standard but improved by 6.9 points, rated Green. The graduation rate was 92.9% for a cohort of 322 students, rated Yellow after a 1.2-point dip. The school publishes its course catalog and School Accountability Report Card on its website.
Moreno High School, the continuation program
Moreno High is the district's continuation high school for grades 9 to 12, an alternative school run alongside Beverly Hills High. The CDE directory lists it at 624 North Rexford Drive. It enrolls too few students for the Dashboard to report test colors.
Hawthorne Campus, no longer an elementary school
Hawthorne Elementary held its final promotion ceremony on May 24, 2024. Since early 2025 the campus on North Rexford Drive has housed the district office, and the City of Beverly Hills runs a preschool there. Older listings and maps may still name Hawthorne as a neighborhood school, so check the district's current School Finder instead.
Beverly Hills Preschool and transitional kindergarten
The district runs Beverly Hills Preschool with its own enrollment link. For 2026-27, transitional kindergarten is open to children born from September 2, 2021, to September 1, 2022, and kindergarten to children born from September 2, 2020, to September 1, 2021.
School choice, transfers and permits in Beverly Hills
Elementary transfers within Beverly Hills Unified
Each enrolled student has a designated elementary school. The district accepts transfer requests between El Rodeo and Horace Mann, mainly to return to the designated school or to reunite siblings, and states that permits depend on space. The 2026-27 transfer application was listed as coming soon when we checked.
Interdistrict permits for district and city employees
Families who live outside the district may qualify if a parent works more than 20 hours a week for the district or for Beverly Hills City Hall. They need proof of employment, a release from their home district and a district permit.
Grandparent permits in Beverly Hills Unified
The grandparent permit is now limited to siblings of current grandparent-permit students in TK to 11th grade. The grandparent must have lived in the district for at least 10 consecutive years. The 2026-27 window ran from March 2 to March 20, 2026, and permits are renewed every year and can be denied when a program is full.
How to check schools for a Beverly Hills address
Never assume a school from a listing. Use these checks before you make an offer.
- Run the address through the district's School Finder. If the address is inside Beverly Hills Unified, the designated school appears; if it returns no results, the address is outside the district.
- Watch for 90210 addresses outside the city. Homes in the Beverly Hills Post Office area use 90210 mailing addresses but are in the City of Los Angeles, where public schools are run by Los Angeles Unified. Our Beverly Hills gated communities guide covers several of these enclaves.
- Collect the residency documents early. The district asks for a lease naming the children as occupants, or a property tax or mortgage statement, plus three utility bills including Southern California Edison, and a signed residency affidavit. Utility connection notices count for 45 days only.
- Look up each school on the California School Dashboard and read the latest School Accountability Report Card on the school's own site.
School bonds on a Beverly Hills tax bill
Voter-approved school bonds appear on Beverly Hills property tax bills. For tax rate area 2408 in the city, the 2026-27 rate includes 0.093324% for unified school debt and 0.043416% for the community college district, on top of the 1% base. On a home assessed at $4,029,331, Redfin's median sale price for the three months to September 2026, the school bond line is about $3,760 a year. Your area may differ; check your bill or our Los Angeles County property tax guide. For the market side, see our Beverly Hills homes guide and the Beverly Hills cost of living guide.
